Acknowledgement of Country

The Melbourne Innovation Districts (MID) acknowledges the people of the Woi Wurrung and Boon Wurrung language groups of the eastern Kulin Nation on whose unceded lands we conduct the business of MID.

MID respectfully acknowledges their Ancestors and Elders, past and present. MID also acknowledges the Traditional Custodians and their Ancestors of the lands and waters across Australia where we conduct our business.

What is it?

New spaces and places for innovation and collaboration. Prototyping new technologies, ideas and approaches to the public realm. Re-imagining the ways that public spaces are used and regulated.

Aims of Public Realm:

  • Linking public spaces with public ideas to refresh civic engagement, public debate and urban life.
  • Integration of new principles in planning, design and use of public space, and application of emerging technologies that focus on sustainability and liveability.
  • Prioritising openness and shared public access and engagement for spaces, buildings, infrastructure and institutions.
