Queen Victoria Markets Biennial Lab Arts Incubator

Over two weeks in June 2016, the Biennial Lab, located at Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Market (QVM), hosted fourteen Lab Artists to work intensively in a laboratory environment that championed research, ideation and experimenting. The artists collaborated in workshops, debates and discussions that led them to explore bold, creative ideas in an aesthetically and intellectually rigorous environment.

The purpose of the Biennial Lab is to provide professional development for some of Australia’s best mid-career artists, to release up to ten temporary public art commissions or interventions, which will be activated at QVM between October 17 and October 23, as part of the 2016 Melbourne Festival.
