Regional Acceleration: Team Melbourne kicks off two year work program on the entrepreneurial economy

MID’s partners, together with a group of Melbourne-based entrepreneurs, educators and policy leaders, travelled to Boston this month to kick off Melbourne’s participation in the MIT Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program (REAP).

REAP convenes a world-wide community of city-regions pursuing the growth and deepening of their entrepreneurial economies, linking to MIT’s long-standing intellectual and institutional leadership on entrepreneurship.  For MID team Melbourne, the relevance is even stronger, given the similarities between Boston, a waterfront city known for its world-class universities, demographic diversity and commitment to innovative urban leadership.  The team returned with a series of compelling questions about how Melbourne’s ‘entrepreneurial ecosystem’ can work more effectively to nurture talent, develop capabilities and attract long term investment.  A detailed program of collaborative work has begun… watch this space.
